The Regional Differences
We realise that all the options, regions, strange names etc can get a bit confusing when you’re not familiar with this area, so to help you select your tour, here is a brief explanation of the differences between the two main regions we visit, Auckland’s West Coast area (Kumeu, Huapai & Waimauku) and the East Coast’s Matakana. If you are comparing our tours to ones with similar sounding descriptions I think you’ll find our tours usually include more and offer better value for money!
We are Auckland’s original specialist wine tasting tour operator. All of our tours are personally guided by Auckland’s experienced wine tour guides. We offer you a range of small group, usually from 2 to 8 people, personalised Day & Half Day scenic wine tours. We also offer the widest selection of wineries across our tours to match your tastes and interests.
Our tours visit some of the region’s finest wineries & vineyards in the West Coast (Kumeu, Huapai & Waimauku) wine area, as well as the East Coast, Matakana region and take in some spectacular rural countryside & coastal scenery on the way.
Did the half day tour of the west coast ,45 minutes from Auckland. Two wineries plus the gannet colony on the rocks by the beach. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Both wineries were excellent and John was a very informative host.
Waterfalls and Wine Tasting with tour guide is a sure bet. Tour guide is the perfect guide. Some guides talk the entire time and spoil the experience by doing so. Tour guide is friendly and laid-back. He talks just the right amount!
Auckland Wine Trail Tours exceeded our expectations. Tour guide went out of his way to customize our tour. We were on a Celebrity cruise. He already had an afternoon tour scheduled with other passengers on the ship. We wanted a full day so he picked us up in the morning, took us on a private excursion, then dropped us off at a great winery.
Tour guide gave us a great tour of the area north of the city. He was very informative and did a great job listening to what we wanted to see and do. We enjoyed the small amount of hiking to see the waterfalls and beaches, but he was also able to get some great views for the older couple who had booked with us and couldn't walk very well.
As Auckland’s original specialist wine tour operator, we are happy to extend our services and experience to ‘Large Groups’… by that we mean a group of more than 11 people.
Getting out of the city and relaxing on a wine tasting tour is a great idea for an out-of-the-office ‘Team Building’ activity, social club outing, family celebration, anniversary, corporate function & conference activity.
West Coast Half Day Tours
Half Day tours can be run in the morning, mid-day or afternoon, lasting about 3 to 4 hours and visiting up to 3 vineyard wineries, accompanied by lunch.
If your company is looking for a corporate outing for your team or perhaps a tour or event to entertain clients, then contact us to see what small and large group options are available. Auckland’s Wine Trail Tours have been organising corporate wine tours & events for the last 15 years.
